Las Vegas Rescue Mission clients are already facing a number of challenges. Receiving medical care should not be one of them. Thanks to a partnership between The Neighborhood Clinic and the Las Vegas Rescue Mission, LVRM clients can now receive medical care right on-campus.

Bank of Nevada Funding Financial Literacy Curriculum for Every Nevada Student

Every student in the State of Nevada will soon have access to financial literacy curriculum thanks to the combined efforts of Bank of Nevada and First Independent Bank, Green Our Planet and the Nevada Department of Education. The educational partnership enables Nevada to become the first state in the nation to make comprehensive financial literacy curriculum available to every student in grades K-12.

A $300,000 donation from the Western Alliance Community Foundation – the charitable arm of Bank of Nevada dn First Independent Bank, will fund the majority of an online financial literacy academy that can be access by public, private, charter and home-schooled students anywhere in the state.

MDX Labs Offers New, More Accurate, and Faster Result Tuberculosis Testing Method

MDX Labs is the first to bring a faster and more accurate tuberculosis test to Southern Nevada. Approximately 80,000 people in Southern Nevada have a latent TB infection according to the Southern Nevada Health District. The announcement of the T-Spot.TB test means anyone who believes they may have been exposed to TB can be tested and receive a 95 percent accurate result in about half the time compared with other testing methods.

Those with latent TB infection do not feel sick or have symptoms, however, the SNHD believes up to 10 percent of those with a latent infection will develop into TB disease. TheT-Spot.TB test is covered by most insurance and MDX Labs is working with several community organizations to make sure the test is available to those who lack access to medical coverage.

A First-of-its-Kind Planned Community From Touchstone Living

Locally owned and operated homebuilder, Touchstone Living recently held a groundbreaking for a first-of-its-kind planned community.

“Independence” is planned on the site of the former Royal Links golf course and is the only large-scale community currently in development in Nevada specifically intended for first-time homebuyers.

Eventually, 1,600 townhomes will be built on the former golf course and will start in the $200s, a new home price that disappeared long ago in Southern Nevada. Every home comes with a long list of features that are included in the price, including all appliances and window blinds. Additionally, the development will come with an impressive array of resort-style amenities including multiple swimming pools, large parks, dog parks, basketball court, playgrounds, shaded picnic areas and walking trails.
