The public is invited to join the Nevada Chapter of the National Hemophilia Foundation’s annual Walk & 5K on Saturday, September 26, 2015! It’s a great way to get outside and enjoy the beautiful surroundings, (Floyd Lamb Park at Tule Springs) while supporting those in our community affected by inherited bleeding disorders.
The fundraiser helps the chapter send children with inherited bleeding disorders, including hemophilia and von Willebrand Disease, to a special medically supervised summer camp every year – for free. This allows kids to spend time outdoors with others who face similar challenges, and also helps them learn to become more independent in living with their disease. Funds will also be used to continue the chapter’s important support groups including those for the newly diagnosed, youth and Spanish-speaking communities. As always, the chapter offers emergency assistance for those in need of help obtaining the life-saving medication or living necessities. Those in Reno can also take part in a Walk & 5K. The Reno walk happens Saturday, September 12.
Can’t walk? You can still donate to the cause and help provide funds to send kids to camp. Jut visit: www.hfnv.org.
