TOP 5 END OF YEAR DONATING “DO’s”
5) Get a Donation Receipt
All Goodwill of Southern Nevada donation centers are staffed by a donation ambassador to ensure donors receive that VERY IMPORTANT receipt for tax purposes. Donors should make an accurate recording of their donation on the receipt.
4) Remove Personal Information
Remember to clean out pockets and purses before donating.
3) Donate Books, CDs, DVDs & Blu-Rays
Yes, Goodwill of Southern Nevada will take them! All donations stay in Southern Nevada to support local job placement and training programs for those in our community.
2) Donate Early
Typically donation locations get busier as the day goes on.
1) Know Who You Are Donating To
Be a savvy donor! Make sure the organization is a 501(c)(3) charitable agency so you can claim a tax deduction. Check independent evaluators like Charity Navigator or GuideStar for reviews of the nonprofit. Nonprofits should also make annual reports, 990s, audited financial statements and other information easily available to the public on websites or by request.
