It is definitely winter in Northern Nevada! A simple walk outside will allow you to see the tops of the hills surrounding the Reno area are covered with a fresh coat of snow. Chances are you’ll grab a coat out of the closet before heading outside. We’re asking you to check that closet for a coat you may not use anymore. Maybe it’s tucked away, far in the back and could be used by someone else.
Winter is the time when some Northern Nevada families have to make do without the proper winter gear. That’s why the Hot August Nights Foundation has teamed up with First Independent Bank during their annual coat drive. Now through Friday, November 6, 2015, the public can drop off a new or gently used winter coat. The collected coats will go directly to the Boys and Girls Club of Truckee Meadows which will distribute them to needy families in the area.
The Hot August Nights Foundation will also be collecting coats on Saturday, November 7, 2015 at the A&W in Reno and in Sparks between 10 am and 2 pm.
