Hyundai Hope on Wheels presented Cure 4 The Kids Foundation with a $50,000 Hyundai Hope on Wheels Impact Award on August 12, 2015.
Cure 4 The Kids Foundation is one of 22 recipients of a 2015 Hyundai Impact Award in recognition of the institution’s proven track record in serving families affected by pediatric cancer. The $50,000 Hyundai Hope on Wheels Impact Award was presented to The Children’s Specialty Center’s Dr. Alexandra Walsh. The money will be used to create a statewide pediatric cancer registry to better track cancer diagnoses and treatment outcomes.
Cure 4 The Kids Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, operates The Children’s Specialty Center of Nevada. It is the state’s only nonprofit outpatient pediatric cancer treatment center. The organization’s mission is that no child is ever turned away from treatment, regardless if the child is without medical insurance, or if the family is unable to pay for treatment.
As part of the donation presentation, several Hyundai representatives assisted in the program’s signature handprint ceremony. Henderson Hyundai General Manager Rob Mirra and Western Region Hyundai Motor America’s Erwin Raphael, assisted several child cancer fighters who placed their handprints, dipped in colorful paint, onto a white physician’s coat to celebrate their courageous lives.
In 2015, Hope on Wheels will award more than $15 million to children’s hospitals nationwide through its Grants programs. This brings the total grant funding to pediatric cancer research to just over $100 million, since the program began in 1998.
