The Bank of Nevada is a big supporter of education. Employees frequently go into schools and help young students understand the many reasons to begin saving money, and help their young minds understand the difference between a want and a need. Others have spent hours mentoring high local school students to help ensure those students achieve graduation.
The bank also helps students achieve their college dreams. That’s one reason it created the Forward Together Scholarship. Awarded annually, the scholarship helps local students pay for college tuition. The most recent example came during the Public Education Foundation’s Scholarship recognition luncheon. That’s when Abigail Ly was recognized for her academic work and presented with the $3,000 scholarship from Bank of Nevada.
Abigail would love to become a genetics counselor someday. To turn that dream into a reality, Ly is headed to UNLV where she will pursue Bio Chemistry studies. Congratulations to Abigail!
Abigail was chosen among 60 applicants for the Forward Together Scholarship. Applications are graded on a student’s academic work, grade point average, community service projects and the essay. All students at the Clark County School District’s Southwest Career & Technical Academy are eligible for the scholarship.
