LAUGHLIN, NV – As students were getting ready to head back to school, Aquarius Casino Resort team members held a school supply drive to make sure local kids would have everything they need to be successful at school this school year.
For the entire month of July, Aquarius team members collected new school supplies such as pencils, spiral notebooks, markers, erasers, folders and more to benefit Bennett Elementary School in Laughlin, NV, Coyote Canyon Elementary School in Bullhead City, AZ and Black Mountain K-8 School in Golden Valley, AZ.
“We have many team members who have personal connections to these schools, so anything we can do to give back is important to us,” said Aquarius Casino Resort General Manager Sean Hammond. “We held a contest to make it more fun for our team members, but they would help out anyway. The competition was just an added bonus.”
This is the fifth year Aquarius has held this friendly competition between all five divisions within the property: General and Administrative division, Marketing and Player Development, Hotel Operations, Casino Operations and Food & Beverage division. Overall, Aquarius team members collected a whopping 14,856 school items, nearly doubling last year’s total.
The Bullhead City Walmart store aided in the effort by providing $100 shopping cards for each school, and Office Max and Staples also helped with the effort by giving discounts and specials.
“Through the support of Aquarius, Bennett is able to provide our students and families with the necessary school supplies needed to support academic growth and achievement,” said Bennett Elementary School Principal Dawn Estes said. “We graciously extend our appreciation to all the employees for their tremendous efforts; we thank you for being a great community partner.”
At the end of July, the supplies were rounded up and Aquarius representatives were able to personally visit the schools to deliver them.
