Red 7 Communications is a full-service public relations agency in Las Vegas. We differ from other firms by relying on our skills and knowledge as journalists and bringing a combined 40-plus years working in newsrooms around the country to the benefit of our clients. We believe that unique experience provides our clients the greatest opportunity for exposure, publicity and correct messaging in a busy media landscape.
Kathy left the newsroom in 2009 to lead marketing, public relations and community affairs for one of the largest nonprofits in the state of Nevada. After only one year in the position, “In Business Las Vegas” (now VEGAS INC) named her as one of the city’s “40 under 40.”
In 2017, Kathy was named PR Practitioner of the Year by the Las Vegas Valley Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA), and has won back-to-back Pinnacle Awards for her work with the American Lung Association in Nevada’s signature fundraising event, Scale the Strat. The professional organization has also recognized Kathy for her campaigns with Workforce Connections, as well as United Way of Southern Nevada.
Mitch Truswell is an Emmy award-winning journalist with more than 20 years experience in television news. Mitch worked as a reporter, anchor and producer in markets that include Sacramento, Phoenix and Las Vegas.

Beginning in 2010, Mitch began working in the public relations industry overseeing publicity and community relations for a number of local companies and nonprofit organizations.
In 2013, Mitch started hosting Inside Education on VegasPBS. The program highlights the important issues, the challenges and the success of programs within the Clark County School District. Inside Education airs at 7:30 p.m. on VegasPBS.
Elizabeth migrated to the U.S. with her family when she was a small child. They came to this country legally as farm workers and often traveled from state to state following the crop seasons. Her parents knew that they wanted a better life for their children, so they put a high emphasis on learning the English language and pursing higher education.
Much of Elizabeth’s career has been in the field of workforce development, as helping people overcome barriers similar to those she overcame herself is her passion. Elizabeth didn’t begin her college education until after her divorce at age 27 and she did it as single mom while raising three small children. Receiving her bachelors degree in Sociology from the University of California Santa Cruz was a reminder that anyone can achieve anything if they truly want it.
Prior to working at Red 7 Communications, Elizabeth worked as the Director of Mission Services at Goodwill of Southern Nevada. She held this position for 8 years and propelled the agency’s mission services to new heights, breaking records year after year for job placements.
Elizabeth also held a position as a Sales and Marketing Specialist for the Modesto Junior College Workforce Training Center. At Red 7, Elizabeth assists with project management, updating social media accounts, event coverage and supports both Kathy and Mitch with their respective projects.
Ralph is a go-getter. As our digital journalist, he uses his reporting skills to help us tell stories that are important to the community. Ralph grew up in Las Vegas and first developed an interest in news while he was in high school. After reporting for his high school newscasts, and reporting for the Vegas PBS program, Inside Education, he is now pursuing a degree in Journalism and Media Studies at UNLV. He hopes to eventually work for a news station that will continue to help him grow as a reporter, as well as a journalist.
